Facebook Set To Launch Dating Feature.

Facebook CEO announced at the F8 conference in San Jose, California its plan to launch a dating service to help connect users with romantic interests.

The feature will be aimed at “building real, long-term relationships, not just hookups,” Zuckerberg said, adding that since “there are 200 million people on Facebook that list themselves as single… clearly, there’s something to do here.”

Zuckerberg added that the feature will allow Facebook users create separate profiles from their personal Facebook accounts to seek romantic connections. The two profiles will be separate from each other which means your Facebook friends won’t be able to see what your Dating profile says or the activities you engage in.

Facebook will use a unique algorithm to match you with potential dates, based on “dating preferences, things in common, and mutual friends.” you will also be able to find romantic interests at events and shows. For instance, when you are at a show or concert, you can “unlock” your profile and you will be able to find matches at the event.

Users are however reluctant to try supply more information to Facebook due to the Cambridge Analytica Scandal; The social media giant, however, states that it will not utilize information from the platform for targeted Ads.

Facebook says it’s going to start testing Dating later this year.
