Less than a year after dating, Australian born singer and songwriter, Miley Cyrus, and her boyfriend, Cody Simpson have called it quits. Miley confirmed the reports of their split in an Instagram Live session to celebrate her new track “Midnight Sky”, on Thursday, August 13. The 27 year old started off saying she would like to “get something that is obvious out of the way”. Addressing the reports on her split with Cody, she said, “So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up, it was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it. For right now, two halves can’t make a whole, and we’re individually just working on ourselves, becoming the people that we want to be. Like everybody else at this age, we’re just deciding who we want to be with our lives, what we want to do with our lives. And so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we hang out and we’re getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years, and we’re going to continue to be friends. Just don’t make it something that it is not.”

The duo who have been friends for years first sparked romance rumors in October 2019, following Miley’s divorce from Liam Hemsworth and split from Kaitylynn Carter. Cyrus and Hemsworth got married back in 2018 after a series of breakups and makeups for years, and eventually called it quits in August 2019.
